Must identify as a woman

Begin program on or before September 30, 2027

Must be completing their first doctoral degree

Enrolled at an institution accredited by the US Department of Education

Or enrolled at an international institution recognized as eligible to participate in U.S. federal student aid programs

U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Applicants must demonstrate financial need

Cannot be a current member of the AAUW Board of Directors

Cannot be an employee of AAUW (paid or unpaid, part-time or temporary), consultant, intern or contract employee

Cannot be a current AAUW Review Panelist

Immediate family (spouses and dependent children) of the above are not eligible

Cannot apply for another national AAUW fellowship or grant in the same year

Previous national AAUW fellowship or grant recipients are not eligible (excluding Community Action Grants or branch/local AAUW awards)

Cannot be working on a master’s degree during the fellowship year
