The Council on Basic Cardiovascular Sciences (BCVS) offers travel grants to international students and early career investigators to attend Scientific Sessions. Ten recipients will receive $1,000 each to cover travel costs. Applicants must be AHA Scientific Council members, submit an abstract to Scientific Sessions that is accepted and ranks in the top 20% of its category, be the presenting author, register for and present in person, and meet membership and application deadlines.

Active in research and within 10 years of completion of terminal degree or highest certificate (e.g., MSc, PhD) or within 10 years of completing medical fellowship or residency as of the application date
Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, instructors, and research associates are eligible
Must be a member of the American Heart Association Scientific Council sponsoring this award (active AHA professional membership required)
Must submit an abstract to a listed category for presentation at Scientific Sessions
Abstract must be accepted for presentation at Scientific Sessions and rank in the top 20% of its category
Applicant must be the presenting author, registered for Scientific Sessions, and able to present in person (oral or poster)
Applicants must adhere to the American Heart Association Embargo Policy
Work covered by the abstract must not have been presented at a national or international meeting before presentation at Scientific Sessions
Applicants may apply multiple times with different abstracts but are eligible to receive only one travel grant
Each applicant is eligible to receive only one council-sponsored grant per AHA meeting per year
Winners are not eligible to apply in subsequent years
