Provided by CalKIDS (administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board)
CalKIDS provides seed deposits and scholarship awards for eligible California children and certain California public-school students. Newborns (born in CA on or after July 1, 2022) receive seed deposits ($25 or $100 depending on birth date) plus bonuses for claiming and linking to a ScholarShare 529. Eligible public-school students may receive $500 for low-income or English learner status, with additional $500 awards for foster youth and for homeless youth. Funds can be used for qualified higher education expenses (tuition, fees, books, room & board, computer equipment).
