The CalKIDS Scholarship is a children's development account program administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, an agency of the state of California. It provides eligible participants with scholarship accounts, including seed deposits and other potential incentives, to help pay for future qualified higher education expenses. All children born in California on or after July 1, 2022, have a CalKIDS Scholarship waiting for them. Additionally, California public school students enrolled in grades 1-12 during the 2021-2022 academic year, and public school students enrolled in the 1st grade during the 2022-2023 academic year and every school year thereafter, may be eligible for a CalKIDS Scholarship. The scholarship awards $500 for low-income or English learner public school students, with additional $500 for foster youth and $500 for homeless youth.
