Funds are disbursed in full at the start of the grant term and may be used for tuition, fees, required course materials, transportation assistance, and dependent care.

Identify as a woman
Have applied or been accepted to a certificate or training program in a field where women are underrepresented (women comprise less than 50% of the workforce), OR currently be employed in a field where women comprise less than 50% of senior leadership positions if pursuing executive leadership/management training
Program start date must fall between 2026-09-01 and 2026-12-30
Programs must be offered by accredited or licensed institutions and lead to professional advancement or employment
Hold at least an associate's degree or higher
U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Career Development Grants cannot be used for a degree program or for a certificate that is part of a degree program
Not a current member of the AAUW Board of Directors, an AAUW employee, an AAUW Review Panelist, or an immediate family member of such individuals
Not a previous national AAUW fellowship or grant recipient (excluding Community Action Grants or branch/local AAUW awards)
Not an applicant for another national AAUW fellowship or grant in the same year
Must provide proof of degree and transcripts (required application documents)
Must provide proof of underrepresentation for the chosen field (link or citation to data source)
Must provide proof of program accreditation (required application document)
