About This Scholarship

PFLAG Sacramento awards scholarships to outstanding recipients in honor of The Rev. and Mrs. Merrill Follansbee, and Jean Hansen, the chapter's co-founders and proud parents of LGBTQ+ individuals. The scholarship is intended for individuals who self-identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and demonstrate an interest in service to the community.

Original Requirements

  • Self-identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
  • Demonstrate an interest in service to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
  • Currently live in the Greater Sacramento Region (El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, Yuba, San Joaquin, Amador, or Calaveras County)
  • Will be enrolled at a college, university, or technical school for the following academic year
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
