Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, undergraduates enrolled at accredited U.S. institutions, and recipients (or future recipients) of Title IV federal financial aid. The program offers 100 awards of $5,000 each and is administered by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited U.S. institution (two-year or four-year)
Dependent (child or spouse) of an active or activated U.S. military service member at the time of application
Recipient of any type of Title IV federal financial aid during the time of application or provide proof of receiving Title IV aid during the study abroad/internship
In the process of applying to, or accepted to, a credit-bearing study abroad or internship program (proof of acceptance required prior to disbursement)
Program location must have an overall U.S. Department of State Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2 (participants may not travel to areas designated Level 3 or 4)
Provide dependent military ID (e.g., DD1173) confirming child/spousal dependent status
