International scholarship program (funded by the German Federal Foreign Office) supporting talented international students and doctoral candidates from non-EU countries to pursue Bachelor (from 2nd semester), Master, postgraduate, or doctoral studies at German universities. Financial support: up to €992/month for Bachelor/Master/postgraduate (standard duration 2 years) and up to €1,400/month for doctoral candidates (standard duration 3 years). Additional allowances (health insurance subsidy, family/child allowances, research travel grants, partial tuition reimbursement) available in some cases.

Be an international student or doctoral candidate from a non-EU country
Intend to pursue or continue a Bachelor (from second semester onward), Master, postgraduate, or doctoral program at a German university
For doctoral candidates: be fully admitted to a doctoral program at a German university
Have strong academic performance (good to excellent grades)
Identify with KAS values and be able to reflect critically on social and political topics
Be actively involved in the community (politics, social work, church, culture, etc.)
Volunteer regularly
Be committed to democratic values and human rights
Be motivated, open-minded, and goal-oriented
Minimum German language proficiency: B2 (e.g., Goethe-Institut certificate)
Master’s applicants: intend to enroll in a four-semester MA program at a German university
Bachelor’s applicants: have completed at least two semesters of a BA program at a German university
Doctoral candidates: must be fully admitted to a doctoral program at a German university
International students and doctoral candidates (primarily from non-EU countries) or research stays of at least four semesters
Demonstrate above-average academic performance
Commitment to democracy, human rights, and social engagement
Volunteer experience in applicant’s home country is highly encouraged
Minimum funding period is four semesters
Programs in human medicine, dentistry (leading to a state examination), or medical specialization programs are not funded
Programs that last only three semesters are generally not eligible
If applying via domestic selection (already living in Germany): deadline July 15 each year at 12:00 noon (CET)
If applying from home country/region: apply via participating KAS foreign office (only selected offices participate each year)
