The MMEG South Africa Program provides education grants to women from developing and middle-income countries who are enrolled at universities in South Africa. The program supports women who intend to work in or with a developing country to improve the lives of women and/or children after obtaining their degree.

Be a self-identifying woman, and at least 25 years old at time of application deadline
Be a national of a country listed on the MMEG country eligibility list
Be registered at an accredited in-person academic institution and program
Plan to be enrolled for at least one full academic semester after award of the MMEG grant
Plan to graduate no later than three years after the award of the MMEG grant
Not be related to a World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund, or Inter-American Development Bank staff member, spouse, retiree, or MMEG Board member
Complete an application and be prepared to be interviewed in English
Already be enrolled full-time or part-time at one of the universities on the list
Be enrolled for at least one academic semester following the award of the MMEG grant
Hold a study permit for South Africa if applying from an eligible country other than South Africa
