About this scholarship

Merit-based scholarship for undergraduate students in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) majoring in a world language, political science, international relations, or international studies who are participating in an academic credit-bearing study abroad program (at least one semester) or an international internship (summer internships must be at least eight weeks). Awards are $2,000 per award and are given in the fall and spring semesters and during the summer for eligible internships; number of awards varies by applicants and funding. Application is via the Semester Merit Scholarship application packet (essays, references, grade report, UI Award Letter).

Enrolled in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at the time of the program abroad

In good academic standing

Minimum 3.5 UI cumulative GPA as reported on unofficial UI grade report

Completed at least 12 semester hours by the application deadline

Declared a major in a world language, political science, international relations, or international studies

Participating in a study abroad program or an international internship program through International Programs (academic credit-bearing study abroad of at least one semester, or a summer internship of at least eight weeks)

Eligible enrollments must be approved and facilitated by UI Study Abroad
