The Lewis Scholarship provides free housing and a monthly stipend to support student journalists of color who plan to intern at news media outlets in Washington, D.C. The scholarship is valued at $10,000, including a $1,000 monthly stipend and free housing for the duration of the internship, usually four months. It is open to currently enrolled college students of color in their junior or senior year of undergraduate study with at least a 3.0 GPA. Graduating seniors may apply if their internship takes place in the semester immediately following graduation. Students must secure an on-site journalism internship in Washington, D.C. during the semester they receive the scholarship.
