About this scholarship

The Scholarship for Service (SFS) program provides scholarship funding in exchange for service in a government cybersecurity position. Scholars participate in paid summer internships at government agencies and, upon graduation, are required to serve in a paid cybersecurity-related position in federal, state, or local government for a period equal to the length of scholarship funding (typically two or three years). Be a student

Accept scholarship funding in exchange for a service obligation equal to the length of scholarship funding (typically two or three years)

Participate in paid summer internships at a government agency while a scholar

Upon graduation, serve in a paid cybersecurity-related position in a federal, state, or local government agency

Be a United States citizen or permanent resident

Be currently enrolled at or accepted for enrollment at a National CAE (such as USA)

Be attending school on a full-time basis while receiving a scholarship under the program

Be willing to pursue studies with an emphasis in information assurance

Undergraduate applicants: be at least a Junior (completion of 60 semester hours) by August with at least a 3.2 GPA

Graduate applicants: be in the first or second year of a master's degree program with a 3.5 GPA

Meet criteria for Federal employment

Be recommended by the CAE for the scholarship program

Be able to obtain a security clearance

Apply for admission to USA for the academic program you plan to pursue

Submit the USA SFS Application

Submit official transcripts for all institutions attended

Submit a resume (government format preferred)

Include awards, honors, and distinctions list

Submit at least two letters of reference (one must be academic)

Submit a competency statement
